Cat Behaviourist in Lelystad, Almere, Dronten and Surrounding Areas
Are you experiencing behavioural problems with your cat? As a cat behaviourist, I can help you better understand your cat’s behaviour and work towards a solution that suits both your cat and your home environment.
My name is Adrienne van ’t Wout, and I have been working as a cat behaviourist since 2010. Through Catcetera, I help cat owners who are struggling with behavioural problems. My service area includes Lelystad, Almere, Dronten and the surrounding areas.
Whether your cat urinates outside the litter box, meows excessively, displays aggression or struggles to get along with other cats, there is always a reason behind unwanted behaviour. By looking at your cat’s needs, their environment and their daily routine, we can work together to find ways to improve their behaviour.
When Can a Cat Behaviourist Help?
Cats can display behaviours that are difficult for their owners to understand or manage. Sometimes a problem develops suddenly, while other behaviours emerge gradually. These issues can cause unrest in the home, frustration and even tension between you and your cat.
As a cat behaviourist, I can help you with a range of issues, including:
-
Inappropriate elimination: your cat urinates or defecates outside the litter box.
-
Aggression: your cat attacks, bites, scratches or reacts aggressively towards other cats.
-
Conflicts between cats: cats in the same household chase, fight with or avoid each other.
-
Fear and stress: your cat frequently hides, startles easily or is reluctant to enter certain rooms.
-
Excessive meowing: your cat vocalises frequently or constantly seeks attention.
-
Scratching furniture: your cat scratches furniture or other places where you would prefer they did not.
-
Restlessness and unwanted behaviour: your cat seems unsettled or displays behaviour you do not understand.
-
Changes at home: you want to help your cat adjust to moving house, a new cat, a baby or another change in the household.
Even if you are unsure whether your cat’s behaviour is normal, seeking professional advice can be worthwhile.
Cat Behaviour Therapy: Understanding Why Your Cat Behaves This Way
Cats express their needs and feelings differently from humans. Behaviour that seems difficult or confusing to us may be a logical response to the circumstances from your cat’s perspective.
For example, a cat that urinates outside the litter box is certainly not doing so to annoy you. Several factors may contribute to this behaviour, including the location, size or hygiene of the litter box, tension in the household, changes in the environment or an underlying medical problem.
That is why I look beyond the behaviour itself when addressing feline behavioural problems. I also explore the possible underlying causes. This includes the home environment, daily routines, social relationships between cats and their owners, and the opportunities your cat has to express natural feline behaviours.
The aim is to help you understand your cat better and identify practical changes that can improve life for both you and your cat.
How Does Cat Behaviour Therapy Work?
A behavioural consultation begins with gathering information about your cat and your home situation. This allows me to prepare thoroughly and develop a clear understanding of the problem before our consultation.
1. Complete a questionnaire
You will receive a detailed questionnaire covering your cat, the behaviour you have observed, their environment and their daily routine. This information helps me gain insight into your situation before we explore possible solutions together.
2. Behavioural consultation
During a consultation lasting approximately 1.5 hours, we discuss your cat’s behaviour and its possible causes. We look at your cat’s needs and consider which changes to the environment or daily interactions may help.
3. Practical, personalised advice
You will receive practical recommendations tailored to your cat, your household and your circumstances. The aim is to provide realistic steps you can implement at home.
4. Written report
After the consultation, you will receive a written report outlining the main findings and recommendations. This allows you to review the advice at your own pace and implement the suggestions step by step.

About Adrienne van ’t Wout
My name is Adrienne van ’t Wout, and I have been working as a cat behaviourist since 2010. I help cat owners better understand their cats’ behaviour and address problems in a practical way.
At Catcetera, feline welfare is at the heart of everything I do. I believe it is important to look beyond the behaviour we see on the surface. By considering a cat’s needs and the circumstances in which they live, we can often gain a better understanding of what is happening and identify possible adjustments.
My starting point is that cats do not display problematic behaviour without a reason. By investigating that reason, we can work towards a solution that suits your cat.
